On 27 May 2026, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs notified the Companies (CSR Policy) Amendment Rules, 2026. For the first time, companies can deploy up to 10% of their annual CSR spend into the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) — by subscribing to Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP) instruments issued by SSE-listed Not-for-Profit Organisations.
The amendment does something quiet but significant: it exempts the subscribing company from conducting its own impact assessment on these projects. That exemption doesn’t remove the need for proof — it relocates it. The credibility of every rupee now rests on the listed NPO’s ability to execute on the ground and evidence outcomes under SEBI’s disclosure and social-audit regime, within a three-financial-year delivery window.
