Ages 2-9 : Neurodevelopmental Disorders

In every classroom, ~2-3 children are struggling, not with discipline - but with a brain that’s wired differently. 1 in 8 Indian children (12.5%) has a neurodevelomental disorder; conditions that impact how individuals perceive the world & engage with others.

With early screening & appropriate support, individuals with autism can significantly improve in communication, independence, and quality of life. Your support in early screening & parental awareness can play a transformative role.

Ages 3-6 : Malnutrition

Over 35% of children and 20% of adults suffer from malnutrition and hidden hunger (micronutrient deficiencies). 35.5% children are stunted, 19.3% are wasted, 32.1% are underweight & 6-8% are overweight.

Over-Nutrition is also Malnutrition. Overnutrition may cause an early onset of chronic lifestyle conditions and must be kept in check.

Ages 3-18 : Anemia

59-67% kids & adolescents suffer from anemia. Anemia can cause cognitive impairment, reduced concentration & attention, memory problems. Lower IQ & cognitive function.

Physical effects of Anemia include: fatigue & weakness, growth & development delays, poor academic performance, decreased academic achievement, incrased school absenteeism.

Anemia can also cause behavioural issues like irritability & mood swings, lack of motivation, long-term consequences, chronic health problems.

Ages 3-18 : Vision Disorders

How do you know if the world is blurry to a young child?

Children don’t realize they’re having vision issues.

80% of what a child learns is through visual processing. ~30% of Indian students are affected by vision disorders. There are great benefits of correcting vision. There is an improvement in academic performance by 16.21% due to vision correction.

Vision issues are overlooked by the parents & for most, this is not even a priority. Lazy eye detection can prevent monocular vision (one-eye blindness) in upto 1% students.

Ages 10-18 : Type 2 Diabetes - Sugar Board Assistance & Tests

Children aged 4 to 10 get around 13% of their daily calories from sugar, while those aged 11 to 18 consume about 15%, both exceeding the recommended limit of 5%.

The CBSE's move is a proactive step to tackle India's growing non-communicable disease burden, particularly lifestyle diseases like diabetes and obesity.

Diabetes screening in schools involves identifying students who may be at risk through various methods, often including blood tests.

These screenings help in early detection, enabling timely interventions and management.

Ages 10-18 : Vitamin D Deficiency

>62% of Indian adolescents suffer from low Vitamin D levels — with 26% deficient and **36% insufficient — putting their bone health, immunity, and growth at serious risk during a critical phase of development.

Vitamin D is vital for calcium absorption, which builds strong bones. Vitamin D plays a key role in immune regulation, making adolescents less vulnerable to infections.

Adequate Vitamin D levels support better energy levels, muscle strength, and cognitive function, contributing to improved school performance and athletic participation.

Ages 9-18 : HPV Vaccination Camps

Cervical cancer kills a woman every 8 minutes in India.

83.2% of invasive cervical cancers are attributed to HPV strains 16 or 18.

These can be dealt with through mass immunization of young kids particularly females aged 9-18 years of age with quadrivalent vaccines (2-3 doses).
